Rechie Valdez is a Member of Parliament for the riding of Mississauga—Streetsville. She was elected to office in the 2021 federal election. Rechie currently serves on the Standing Committee for Agriculture and Agri-Food as well as the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs. She is also the Vice-Chair of the Canada-Philippines Interparliamentary Friendship Group. She manages both her constituency office in Mississauga, as well as her Parliamentary office in Ottawa with a team of 6 individuals. Rechie made history as the first Filipino woman to be elected to the House of Commons in Canada and is currently the only Member of Parliament of Filipino descent, who represents close to one million Filipino-Canadians. Prior to getting elected, Rechie was an entrepreneur and previously worked in corporate banking. Additionally, Rechie was involved in philanthropic causes and was a not-for-profit leader.
